My work comes about through reflections on the simple moments in life, yet creates complex emotions. I am interested in the sense of nostalgia, solitude, and inner conflict one can get by something as simple as sticking their hand out a car window, feeling the wind run through their fingers. I strive to create the feeling of peaceful cogitation when these moments arise and to get the viewer to reflect on a time when they have felt such a way. With this in mind, my work shares the importance of these lesser known moments of personal reflection that not many people discuss, but could leave a huge impact on our lives. In my most recent work, I focus on painting faces with a blank expression to complement this idea, and to invite the viewers to stare back, experiencing opia.
